Description

Team Fur Bandit, Rockford’s premier bicycle club and bike safety advocates are pleased to announce the date for the Tenth Annual Tour de Frost, the 20 mile bike ride around Rockford to benefit the Fish-Abled Foundation. This year the ride will be on December 7, 2019, with registration beginning at 9:00am. The line up will form at 9:45am and the ride starts at 10:00am.

Early registration is $35.00 on Active.com. On site-registration day of the event is $40.00 and runs from 9:00am to 9:45am.

Famous for riding the Rockford area on fur covered bicycles, Team Fur Bandit decided to channel their popularity to help Rockford’s disabled community by providing funds to help support their needs. Since 2014 the team has been working with the Fish-Abled Foundation to help support their honorable cause to help out the disabled.

"By participating in the event riders get to support a local charity, have fun riding bikes, and enjoy multiple stops with snacks included. Free food is always a bonus for me." Team member Tricia Wilson encourages everyone to participate or donate to the Fish-Abled Foundation.

The Tour de Frost is a safe, fun, fully supported bike ride around Rockford. Cyclists go in a group in this no-drop ride, and are treated to stops along the way at Olympic Tavern and Rockford Bicycle Company. Growing every year, the ride has brought in cyclists from as far as Milwaukee and the Quad Cities to do the twenty mile loop, which ends with a pizza party at Oscar’s on State.

“We love the ride and the camaraderie,” said Ashley, a fixed-gear cyclist who drove down from Madison, WI. to participate in one of the rides.  “The people are nice, the ride is safe, and there’s tons of pizza. What’s not to love?”

“Plus it’s for a great cause,” team member Bill Edmundson added. “To me when you can have fun and do something positive for your community, it’s a no-brainier.”
