Twin Lakes: 19230 Highway 6, Manvel, United States
Learn the fundamentals of safe and enjoyable open water swimming with USAT certified coach Peter Foster of tenwesttriathlon.com
This clinic is specially designed for visually and physically impaired triathletes, with a focus on mental preparation and visualization to help overcome fears and anxiety.
Swimmers and guides will also perform practical drills in the water to address form, skill and race day procedures.
The clinic is based on experience and practice successfully employed with visually impaired athletes.
Clinic begins sharp at 8 am and runs until about 9.30 am. Arrive in plenty time.
Event is limited to about 12 participants to allow for effective coaching.
Athletes must keep socially distanced while congregating before the swim.
All swimmers and guides must bring and use a swim float. You may bring a wetsuit if you want to practice getting it on and off, but the clinic will require swimers only wear their regular suits and the float during training drills. It will likely be too warm for a full wetsuit. Para triathletes with lower limb impairment may wear bouyant swim shorts or a band to keep their legs together.
Training drills will be conducted with safe spacing between each swimmer.
The gate to the lake may be shut when athletes arrive. Park your vehicle to the right of the gate, without blocking any RVs or other users. All swimmers, guides or spectators must pay a $10 cash entrance fee in the payment box mounted at the gate.
Meet at the southwest corner of the lake near the picnic table and wooden dock.
Bring water and a snack for post swim recovery.
Pack out any trash, leave nothing but your footprints.
