• Nutmeg - Par Course mile 9am - Individual Age group/open
  • Other-5K 9am - Individual Age group/open
  • 10 mile Trek 9am - Individual Age group/open

Sept 24th starting line 9am. Same day registration available prior to 9am.

Crystal and Davey Bowles are hosting a trek with the help of North Striders, through Brooktrails in memory and honor of their son, Sam and his perseverance through all of the struggles he constantly endured, and for their daughter, Bronach for her supporting spirit, strength and continuing zest for life. Bronach and Sam were best friends, reveling in the time and antics they shared together. These kinds of memories and those shared with family and friends give us courage to face the difficult moments that are present throughout each day.

Sam was not competitive, he lived in the moment, literally taking life in stride and finding every moment "worthwhile," a word he found deep and personal meaning in.

We are hoping this will be a fun way for families to get together, enjoy the outdoors and company of each other. We will have some prizes for top finishers of the 5k and 10 mile treks, and a pin for all participants.

Thank you to our volunteers for their time and support and thank you to our donors who have generously given to help fund the event: East Hill Veterinary Clinic (Dr. Chana), North Spur Brewery, Safeway of Willits, and Susie & Glenn Begam-Violette.

Please share freely.

Event details and schedule

Sept 24, 2022

Same-day registration and bib pick-up start at 8am.

Trek Starts at 9am.

Parking with a short walk, is available at the Brooktrails Community Center/Golf Course, above the Community Center by the Lodge, OHL Grove, across from the Lodge, and at the Par Course (Trek Start/Finish).

The tails are minimally maintained and have rough uneven terrain. Please wear appropriate footwear such as hiking or running shoes. Poison oak is prevalent in the green belt however there shouldn't be any along the trail edges. Remember your sunscreen, bug spray, and a hat especially if you're hiking.

We will have 4 aid stations: 1 @ the par course, 1 @ halfway point of 5k (also overlaps 10mile), 1 @ Gooseberry trailhead & 1 @ Lake Emily for 10mile. For the 10mile, we recommend you bring some hydration of your own, it's quite a climb. Course will be marked with a combination of flagging, chalk, and signs in designated route colors.
