Saturday 25th March 2017
Jittery Joe's Roaster: 425 Barber Street, Athens, United States
Join us for our 6th incredible trip up and down the proposed route for the Firefly Rail Trail on Saturday, March 25. NEW THIS YEAR -- two starting points, a 100-mile option and a new SAG stop. Whether you want to ride 18 miles or a full Century, we've got you covered.
Choose to start at 9 a.m. from Jittery Joe's Roaster, 425 Barber Street in Athens OR start at Pittard Park, 125 N. Church Street, Winterville. Routes closely follow the path of the planned Firefly Trail.
The full out-and-back route this year is 100 miles, rolling through Winterville, Arnoldsville, Crawford, Maxeys, and Union Point. Shorter options are available, making this a perfect ride for cyclists of all interests and abilities. This year we have FIVE great sag stops - all routes are fully sagged and supported. Pre-registration is $40, students pay $30 and day of registration is $45. Teams of 5 or more members are welcome to register for $35 each before the day of the ride. (Individual registration online will not show the $35 fee. A a check will be mailed to the team captain for the $5 difference for each team member.)
Your funds and your participation help promote and support the development and completion of the Firefly Rail Trail. This trail will be a real boon to riders, walkers, nature lovers, historians (the trail is named for the old Georgia Railroad that ran from Athens to Union Point), and the entire Northeast Georgia community.
All participants will receive a Firefly Trail t-shirt, WaterMan water for your bottle, one free serving of Terrapin beer (age 21 ond over with ID), a great swag bag from our sponsors, a day of fun, and a big THANK YOU for supporting Firefly Trail! Live music, Terrapin Beer and Your Pie Pizza will be available at the Jittery Joe's finish line!
Everyone who registers before March 25 and decides not to ride will still receive a Firefly t-shirt (while supplies last) and a rider goodie bag. From Monday, March 27 until Friday, April 7, bags will be available at Cycle Sport Concepts, 1029 Baxter St., Athens.
Pre-ride packet pickup and registration will be available on Friday, March 24, 5-7 p.m., Georgia Cycle Sport, 1029 Baxter Street, Athens. Georgia Cycle Sport will also be providing pre-ride mechanicals and sag support on the day of the ride.
On March 25, packet pick-up and day-of registration open at 8 a.m. at Jittery Joe's Roaster and at 8:30 a.m. at Pittard Park, Winterville. Plenty of free parking is available at the Roaster or at nearby businesses. IN Winterville, please park in the gravel lot across Parkview Street from the park. The Athens group will depart at 9 am. Riders who prefer to begin in Winterville will start at Pittard Park at 9:30 am.
