Saturday 25th March 2017
James Island County Park- Wappoo Shelter: 871 Riverland Drive, Charleston, United States
We are excited to host the 3rd Annual Match to Marrow 5K. This year's race is at a new location and will be run on a USATF certified course. This run/walk will benefit Be The Match- which is part of the National Marrow Donor Program.
Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer and 70% of patients don’t have a donor in their family so they depend on Be The Match. Our mission is delivering cures for blood cancers. For patients with blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma and other life threatening diseases, a cure exists. We are a community of donors, volunteers, health care professionals and researchers who deliver cures by helping patients get the life saving marrow or cord blood transplant they need. Our passion to save lives drives us to help more patients survive each year. Every dollar we raise helps more patients afford transplant, adds more marrow donors to the registry and fund life saving research.
In addition to the opportunity to participate in the 5K run or 5K walk, a marrow registry drive will be hosted by Be The Match volunteers to provide the opportunity to join the registry
